Nurse Career Fields: Once you are qualified as a registered nurse, you can start working as a professional in various nursing fields based on your specialization, among the common nursing fields are:
Adult Nursing: Adult nursing involves caring for adults, both sick and well, not only in the hospital environment but also in the community setting such as attached to a health center or in nursing homes. An inherent part of the role of an adult nurse is the promotion of health care through education, the prevention of disease, and the care, sustenance, and rehabilitation of adults undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic regimes. You may have to undergo extra training or take courses  in order to specialize in areas such as cancer care, women’s health, accident and emergency, critical care, practice nursing, health visiting, or school nursing.

Children’s Nursing: If you specialized in children's nursing, your major duty will be to work in taking care of children and young people, from new-born to adolescence. Because children react to illness in a very different way to adults, your trained skill in children's nursing will help you to understand their particular needs and how best to attend to them.  

Learning Disability Nursing: As a nurse that specializes in learning disability nursing, your line of duty will be to help those with learning disabilities to live independent and fulfilling lives. You will need to work with a group of people with learning disabilities, living together and providing 24-hour support to this group.  Your major duty will be centered on how to integrate people with learning disabilities into the larger society. 

Mental Health Nursing: Current lifestyle of the modern world has contributed its impacts on the world at large with increased pressures on quite a large number of people within the society and this on the other hand has caused great mental issues to some people and in which quick intervention is not done may cause a considerable adverse impact on the people. However, you as a mental health nurse will need to work with psychiatrists, social workers, and others to coordinate the care of people being affected or suffering from mental illness.
